ConnectUs Church

Branding

ConnectUs Church is a nondenominational church plant in Mount Joy, PA, founded with the goal of helping people connect to a gospel-centered community and take meaningful next steps in their faith.

The church sought a welcoming, modern visual identity that could support a new congregation from the ground up without leaning into denominational clichés or overly stylized religious imagery.

Challenges

  • Translating the abstract idea of “connection” into a clear, meaningful logo without relying on common religious symbols or clichés
  • Designing a full brand system for a brand-new church plant rather than a rebrand
  • Visually capturing the essence of the church culture before it existed, while also leaning away from imagery tied to specific church denominations
  • Establishing a color palette and typography that conveyed warmth, approachability, and clarity while remaining versatile for future growth

Strategy & Approach

I approached the design as  something that would invite reflection rather than demand attention.

  • Identity concept was built around the concept of two roads converging and moving forward together, symbolizing invitation, shared direction, and spiritual journey.
  • The visual system pairs clean, modern typography with a warm, grounded color palette to reflect both hospitality and intentionality.
  • Designed for growth. The brand is meant to feel open, relational, and adaptable, supporting the church’s mission of unity, discipleship, and community engagement.

Note: Mockups shown in the brand guide represent visual direction and are not the church’s finalized signage or printed materials.

Outcomes & Impact

  • Provided a clear, cohesive visual foundation for a new church plant
  • Helped articulate the church’s mission and values through visual storytelling rather than overt symbolism
  • Created a flexible brand system capable of serving both internal ministry needs and outward-facing community engagement

This project demonstrates how thoughtful, metaphor-driven branding can visually unify a church culture while creating an inviting identity for a growing gospel-centered community.
